Welcome from the President
Due to the continued uncertainty surrounding our ability to deliver a face-to-face Annual Scientific Meeting in April 2021, College has determined the best course of action will be to move it onto a virtual platform. The dates of the event will remain as the 9th-11th April, and we will be providing detailed updates as the reimagined meeting takes shape.
With border restrictions, quarantine, social distancing requirements, and the availability of flights still in question amongst other issues, College feels this will be the most appropriate and safest way to deliver your meeting next year. Our conference organiser The Association Specialists will be reaching out to all existing registrants shortly regarding payments and entitlements.
We are excited to be working with industry experts to deliver a high quality, engaging and comprehensive program to you on a dynamic, user-friendly platform. We will be working very closely with sponsors and exhibitors in the coming weeks to ensure we can create an engaging environment for them to be part of the virtual event.
We give our sincere thanks to Drs Sally Ball and Emma Ryan for their hard work and dedication in bringing the program together. We will be reaching out to all speakers and presenters shortly to help facilitate their continued involvement in the program. For those who have already submitted an abstract, there will be ample opportunity in the coming months to make any changes, to ensure they are current. We are currently reviewing if further abstracts are required for the 2021 program and if we do, this will be communicated soon.
Finally, College will continue to assess the situation across all states and territories as we move towards April 2021. If we can see a safe and opportune way to bring Faculty groups together at some point during the virtual event, creating satellite hubs, we will do so. Of course, in the first instance we will be guided by government advice and your appetite for these activities.
Thank you again for your collegial engagement throughout the last few months; we are very enthusiastic to see this virtual event be a great success for College and for you.
A/Prof David Francis
